Contact Lens Exams

We strive to provide you with complete eye and vision care at Central Nassau Optical. Our Levittown optometrist provides evaluations and prescription management for corrective lenses. Following a comprehensive eye and vision assessment, Dr. Michael Ghossn will discuss your contact lens options with you to select the type that best meets your vision needs and lifestyle. We can determine if contact lenses are right for you if you have dry eyes, allergies, or repetitive eye infections.

Evaluation

As part of the vision evaluation, Dr. Ghossn determines the level of vision correction you require. Refractive error (also called nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, depending on the error) is evaluated by measuring how the eyes focus when a series of lenses are placed in front of them. These measurements can be taken with either an optometrist’s phoropter or an automated instrument. If you would like to schedule an appointment with our Levittown eye doctor, call 516-731-5050 today.

Corrective Lenses

After determining the level of refractive error, Dr. Ghossn works with you to determine whether contact lenses or glasses are best for your lifestyle. Glasses may be the most comfortable corrective solution for people who suffer from certain conditions, such as dry eyes or allergies. Contact lenses are available in either soft or rigid gas permeable form. Contact lenses need to be changed daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on the type of lens chosen. Specialized contact lenses, such as bifocal contact lenses, are also available for patients with special eye conditions. Interested in learning if contact lenses are a good fit for you? Don’t hesitate to contact us at 516-731-5050.

Cosmetic Lenses

With advancements in contact lens technology, cosmetic and prosthetic lenses are now more available than ever before. Custom contact lenses can be created to camouflage any color variation or irregularity and produce a natural eye color. You can also opt for cosmetic lenses to change your eye color. If you are interested in modifying or changing your eye color with contact lenses, please call 516-731-5050 to speak to one of our knowledgeable staff members.

Among our contact lens products are daily disposable lenses, extended wear lenses, rigid gas-permeable lenses, and daily soft lenses.
